Social Media Intern
The Background: Valence is a platform dedicated to connecting, showcasing, and empowering the global black professional community.
My Role: During my time as a Social Media Intern, I honed my ability to craft comprehensive social media strategies, utilizing tools like Later to schedule posts efficiently. I also developed proficiency in monitoring and analyzing engagement metrics to discern trends and pinpoint areas for enhancement. Furthermore, I expanded my skill set in content creation, social media strategy, and data analysis. Additionally, I gained invaluable hands-on experience in a professional environment by contributing to diverse projects, including editing and formatting the company news page and creating engaging social media content using Adobe Illustrator.
Social Media Strategy & Management
During my internship, I was in charge of planning and scheduling content for Valence’s three main social channels: Instagram, LinkedIn, and X (formerly known as Twitter).
At the end of my internship, I made a comprehensive social media strategy that features a SWOT analysis, social media audit, competitor analysis, content suggestions, and more.
Content Creation
I created social media job postings, Instagram Stories, and social copy for Valence’s three main social platforms: Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn. One of the highlights of my internship was starting a weekly social series highlighting events happening within the Black Professional Community.
Starting a Content New Series
During my internship at Valence, I managed the News Page. My responsibilities included reviewing and editing both old and new articles to correct grammatical errors and ensure that the content was easy to understand. I also added hyperlinks where necessary and formatted articles for readability.
Social Copy & Editing
During my internship at Valence, I wrote captions to accompany our social posts. Below are selected posts I planned and wrote copy for.
